Accuracy, Legalities and other Details of MARYLAND MEMBERS' ANCESTRY PROJECT (Md-MAP) THE MARYLAND GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY is proud to provide Md-MAP for our members and visitors. This is a unique project among state genealogical societies. MdGenSoc hopes that this on-line database will provide an easy means of sharing the cumulative years of data of  our members with others interested in Maryland genealogy. Ultimately this service should provide another means to connect with additional researchers interested in the same family, same individual or same surname.   Md-MAP is not intended to compete with other on-line genealogy sites. This project is unique from all others because it focuses only on Maryland genealogies.   Although we encourage all of our members to thoroughly document their data and to cite the sources for their data, we cannot guarrantee the authenticity of any information in Md-MAP.  The information in this database should serve as a clue to guide your research. Every genealogist should verify all the data that they collect, whether from this site or anywhere else. Caveat Emptor ... Caveat Genealogist!  To illustrate this point, read Richard Eastman's comments concerning on-line databases.   The Maryland Genealogical Society has taken every effort to protect the identity and details pertaining to any living persons. We request that submitters of GEDCOMs to Md-MAP remove all living individuals from their GEDCOM before it is sent to us. Furthermore, prior to uploading any data to Md-MAP, each GEDCOM is carefully screened and filtered to (1) contain only individuals born before 1903 or now deceased  and (2) suppress all details for any individual for whom a birth date is not provided.   For Questions, Concerns or Comments pertaining to these or any aspect of Maryland-Members' Ancestry Project (Md-MAP) please contact the md-map@mdgensoc.org
