How to Use MARYLAND MEMBERS' ANCESTRY PROJECT (Md-MAP) Md-MAP is a database of collected GEDCOMs that reside on our server. The information is displayed by a software program called The Next Generation (TNG) which was written by Darrin Lythgoe.  Directions for use are self-explanatory. Here are a few guide lines. The opening page (referred to as the Home Page) provides five methods of looking through the database. 1. Search. Enter at least one name in the search field. Click on  the Search button and you will be presented with a list of matches. 2. Advanced Search allows for many more specific variables in  addition to name fields, such as Nicknames, Titles, Birth place, Death place, etc. 3. Surnames. This is one of the most useful methods of searching Md-MAP. Surnames will yield a summary page from which all names may be searched alphabetically, a summary of the top 25 names (by frequency) in the database and a summary of the frequency of names  beginning with a given letter of the alphabet. You also have the choice of viewing every surname in the database. 4. Sources will return a list of every source from every GEDCOM in Md-MAP. 5. What's New provides a list of the newest material uploaded  within the last 30 days.
