MARYLAND GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
What is GEDCOM? GEDCOM is a means of exchanging genealogical data in electronic format that has been devised by the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints (LDS).
Although GEDCOM has its limitations, for our Md-MAP it will work well.
All modern genealogy software programs allow export to GEDCOM. You will need to consult your software program Help File or reference manual to learn how to use this facility. In most cases, you will likely want to first define a subset of your database that includes the Maryland progenitor and his/her descendants born before 1900. Please limit the data to Births, Baptisms, Christenings, Marriages, Deaths and Burials with source documentation. Even if you submit additional data, it will not be published!
Although the Maryland Genealogical Society staff will try to assist you, creation of a GEDCOM is ultimately your responsibility however if you prefer to submit your
data in the native format of your software, first please contact
