Journal Editor Position

The Maryland Genealogical Society is seeking qualified persons interested in being considered for the position of Managing Editor of the Maryland Genealogical Society Journal.  The Journal  is published 3 times a year (April, August and December); and  includes Maryland source records, family histories, “how-to” articles to improve genealogical research skills, book reviews, and other features. It is mailed to over 1,000 individual members, libraries and genealogical societies in Maryland and around the country. This is a prestigious, well-respected publication in the genealogical field, a good way to get your skills noticed.

With input and assistance from others, the Managing Editor is responsible for seeking articles (of use to Maryland genealogical research) from other genealogists, proofreading, reviewing books, indexing, and technical conversion of various contributor formats into a common format for printing. Assistance is available for some of those tasks, and the production has the full support of the Board of Directors. Some writing/editing experience and familiarity with software programs are important. Knowledge of the Genealogical Proof Standard is critical, and some knowledge of Maryland genealogy is preferred.
