2016 MGS Awardees

Betty deKeyser
 
The designation of Fellow of the Maryland Genealogical Society, the Society’s highest honor, is awarded to members of the Society who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding genealogical scholarship and contributions to the Society and to the genealogical community.  Betty deKeyser has served on the Maryland Genealogical Society Executive Board since 2005, and served as Recording Secretary 2007-2009 and 2011-2013, and as Vice President 2013-2015. She has also been an officer and active board member of the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society and the Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society, and was a Trustee and Secretary of the International Society for British Genealogy and Family History.  She was co-author of the two-volume book Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn Park, Maryland, Gravestone Inscriptions and Interment Records, published in 1999, and has been a contributor to the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin and Journal, AAGS Readings, and ISBGFH British Connections.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Paul F. Izat, Jr.
 
The Certificate of Merit is awarded for meritorious services contributing to the advancement of the Society and its objectives.  Paul F. Izat, Jr., served as an At-Large Board Member 2008-2009, and two outstanding years as Vice-President of the Maryland Genealogical Society 2009-2011. He has served in the critical position of Editor of the Newsletter of the Maryland Genealogical Society from 2012 to the present. He has made significant contributions to the Maryland Genealogical Society web site and other Society projects.  He has also been an active member of the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society and has served in several important positions in that society.
