MEMBERSHIP  BENEFITS

There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Maryland Genealogical Society. Membership fees provide access to some of the best research materials in the State as well as access to surname vertical files, newsletter publications, seminars, and other historical and genealogical venues held locally in the state of Maryland. Joint membership with the Maryland Historical Society provides access to the Historical Society Library as well as all of the privileges of the Historical Society members.

  1. How Do I Become A Member?

    • Enclose a check for the membership fee (see application for fees) in a letter addressed to our Membership Secretary. Your check will be processed in approximately 3-4 weeks. You will be notified via mail and will receive a welcome packet of information helping to explain all the services provided by the Society.

  3. Do I have to live in Maryland to participate in membership benefits?

    • No. In fact, about one-third of all members of the society reside outside of  Maryland.  Some of the Society benefits may be more convenient for local residents to use, however, many of the services provided can benefit any researcher anywhere.

  5. Can I Access Society Records Without Becoming A Member?

    • Yes. But you will be charged a research fee. For information about research through the Society, please visit our Research Services page.

  7. Can I Subscribe To The BULLETIN Without Becoming A Member?

    • No. Annual membership includes a subscription to The BULLETIN. Individual subscriptions are not available, however, many libraries and Family History Centers receive subscriptions and make the publication accessible for viewing in their library reference section.

  9. Can I Purchase Back Issues of The BULLETIN?

    • Yes. Limited quantities of back issues starting from 1960 to the present are available for purchase. Not all years and issues are available. Visit the For Sale page on this web site for a complete listing.

  11. Can A Non-Member Submit a Query To The BULLETIN?

    • No. Queries and Answers are limited to members only.
