is pleased to welcome Claire Bettag & Patricia O. Shawker

Claire Bettag, CG CGL

Claire Bettag Ms. Bettag is a professional genealogist based in Washington, DC; certified since 1997. Her research focuses on French and Acadian families of Louisiana, her native state. She conducts research in the major Washington, DC repositories; in Louisiana; in Salt Lake City's Family History Library; and in France. She lectures at the National Archives; the National Institute for Genealogical Research; the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research at Samford University; and national regional and local genealogical events. She currently is a Trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists and Director of the National Institute on Genealogical Research.


Patricia O'Brien Shawker, CG

Patricia O. Shawker Ms. Shawker is a Certified Genealogist whose interests are Maryland genealogy and research at the National Archives. She is the author of Research in Maryland part of the National Genealogical Society's Research in the States Series. An alumna of the National Institute on Genealogical Research, she also has completed the National Genealogical Society's advanced study course and the advanced methodology course at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research at Samford University. She is the Assistant Director of the National Institute on Genealogical Research and will become the Institute's Director in October 2007.
